I’ve been working with software for the past 15 years. I started programming when I was very young, and since then I’ve worked on projects spanning the gamut. I’ve built web apps, mobile apps, backend systems, databases, computer-vision analysis tools, mobile games, desktop games, augmented reality apps, graphic and effects engines, data delivery infrastructure, UI infrastructure, and more.Along the way I've gotten to make critical decisions that reflected my values. I chose to investigate areas of code critical to user privacy that other engineers shied away from. I surfaced difficult issues and followed-through with fixes to them. I spent careful time to make sure any product that I touched (e.g. Face Effects) was inclusive to all, setting up safeguards to actively catch and fix bias against groups underrepresented in tech. I've actively encouraged workplace conversations around work/life balance, taking breaks when needed, project planning, and long-term career aspirations. And I've fought hard to give my interns and mentees the chances they deserve, even under difficult circumstances.Happy to chat with anyone looking to learn more about the software industry!
