In an age where just about anything can be ordered online, I help The Weather Network's readership sift through a multiverse of products to find the smartest buys. Along with my colleagues, we brainstorm the kinds of things our specialized audience might find useful, from weather-specific apparel and tools, down to what to stock in your home emergency kit.

The online news stories I write for the Weather Network help put the ever-changing weather into perspective for visitors. I change a forecast into a story that lets you know what the weather will be, when it's coming, how to prepare, and where to tune into to get live updates on TV.I also cover any other kind of weather, climate and science news as it pops.

Miramichi, NB

I spent three and a half years learning the northern New Brunswick community of Miramichi inside and out. Although my expertise was in provincial, municipal and federal politics, I had a hand in stories as diverse as drownings in the bay to photo features on high school Christmas plays. Nothing like it to teach you flexibility.

Produced the experimental webcast for The Medium, the newspaper of the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Shot and edited five-minute weekly news items. Worked with student volunteers to write scripts and film the in-studio segment. Met with Medium editor-in-chief to decide what items would be filmed that week. This was a volunteer position.

Reported on stories of provincial significance for New Brunswick's flagship provincial daily.

Official campus newspaper, University of Toronto (Mississauga). Worked first as volunteer reporter, then news editor for the period above. Later returned for a stint as technical producer and director of the paper's experimental webcast between sessions in New Brunswick.
