Emergency Management Coordinator
CurrentManages the operation of emergency management to include developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, policies, and procedures for special emphasis on emergency programs or services provided by the County. Responds to man-made or natural emergencies or disasters, managing, controlling, and supervising 20 county departments and coordinating efforts between eight local fire departments, one rescue squad, two different law enforcement agencies, and multiple volunteer agencies. Liaison between the local government and state governmental agencies, responders, and volunteer agencies. Creates and maintains 12 comprehensive emergency plans for Alexander County to include response to hazardous material spills, severe weather situations, search and rescue activities, terrorist attacks, and pandemic events. Revised Emergency Action Plans for County Offices in order to mitigate incidents and improve response. Spearheads exercises and training compliant with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) for county and agency-specific exercises. Selects and fulfills Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) requirements for Alexander County. Assists the Fire Marshal with fire investigations and inspections serving as a Probationary Level II Fire Inspector and North Carolina Office State Fire Marshal (NCOSFM) Fire Investigation Technician.
