Oversaw three team leads, completed project management, and documentation. Designed and fabricated a 6 degree-of-freedom robotic arm for fine manipulation tasks. The robotic arm has continuous rotation at three joints and is capable of lifting a 3kg payload at a range of 1 meter. I also fabricated a carbon fiber and kevlar electrical enclosure and worked with the electrical team for component mounting and cable management.

Designed and fabricated an all carbon fiber chassis and suspension. The design used a combination of purchased carbon fiber tubes and custom suspension arches and motor housings. I gained exposure to designing molds for carbon fiber as well as laying up carbon fiber to achieve the desired strength from the part.

At Doepker Industries, I was part of the design and product improvement teams. The majority of my projects were modeling and creating drawing packages for custom designs on the flat deck or grain bulker trailers. I primarily used SolidWorks to complete modeling, run interference checks, and create drawings. I gained experience designing jigs and oversaw their fabrication. I received Lean White Belt certification and was strong participant in Doepker's Quick Kaizen program contributing over $150k in annual savings.

At vRSC, I worked to complete the assembly and testing of part checking machine. This required extensive problem solving and prototyping from 3-D printing to manual mills to welding. I also assisted in the troubleshooting and root cause analysis for machine crashes of a seatbelt pretensioner assembly line. I worked to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the machine operation to improve cycle times.

At vRSC I was conceptually designing an assembly line to produce a tubular seatbelt safety component for customers TRW and Autoliv. As my first exposure to mechanical design, I was able to learn about linear motion and ball screw calculations, motor sizing, motor calculations, and air cylinder cycle calculations during this project. In a unique situation, I was able to work on all aspects of the line, from the pantograph transfer to the 9-axis benders. This project also included creating complete drawing packages to be sent for manufacture, speaking with vendors, and sending requests for quotation. As a result, I am able to design mechanical systems that are simple, feasible, and astheically creative.

Running a mowing crew of 2 or 3 guys with efficiency and quality while interacting with customers in a professional manner. Work with team members to provide the highest quality work expected by customers. Apply problem-solving abilities, utilizing the best game plan tailored to each job’s needs. Lead crew with clarity in decision making and exemplifying a diligent work ethic. Completed jobs efficiently by managing the crew and job site, tracking labor hours and material, reviewing daily goals with the crew each morning. Managed job site by keeping job site organized and clean making sure all necessary machines are on site, reporting payroll hours to the office, entering all necessary notes into provided software programs, and reporting track and change orders. Ensured everyone on the crew is working safely.
