Using signal processing and system dynamics and modeling techniques, I am establishing the relationships between muscle activations (EMG), and between muscle activity and joint displacement in patients with essential tremor. With this understanding we can determine which muscles or degree of freedom are causing most of the tremor in any patient. Thus, we can then design a device that will be optimized to reduce tremor for a specific patient.

I independently administered a required 3-credit course in Mechanical Engineering to 18 students. This involved preparing3 two-hour lectures a week, assigning homework, hiring and working with 2 TAs, managing the four labs throughout the semester, writing an original midterm and final exam, and supervising student term-long projects. I also requested student feedback halfway through the term and applied solutions based on their responses. After the class, I received statistically similar ratings compared to previous instructors, with a slight trend toward being above the historical course average.

Using motion and EMG data from healthy test subjects, I utilize OpenSim to model and analyze the wrist impedance during activities of daily living. I also spend time collaborating with a graduate student and our Professor to reach project goals.
