Pre-product R&D engineering and concept design for surgical tools and medical power supplies; “start-up” environment within a large corporation.Led or participated in activities across the medical device new product development cycle, including competitive intelligence, IP due diligence, customer needs assessments (through direct interaction with physicians), concept design and functional prototyping, and design and execution of pre-clinical labs. Worked with marketing partners to assess new product values, identify potential market opportunities, and to develop new technology and product pipelines. Engineering work included analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture, supervision of PCB layout and fabrication, and testing and debugging of complex electro-mechanical systems. Conducted some of these tasks independently, but also supervised contracts to engineering service providers, university partners, and other internal and external teams.Regarded as an excellent communicator capable of distilling complex concepts into stories understandable by a wide audience. Impromptu presentation to CEO resulted in a $1M research grant; was invited to present to CEO several times, as well as to CTO, various Group Presidents, and other leadership.
