In my role as a committee member, I was randomly assigned to cases to provide a student perspective on the student conduct process. I was required to show empathy and compassion to students who had made a mistake. I took an active part in the educational and restorative process that the committee emphasized. In partnership with the Dean of Students, we decided on outcomes that ranged from a warning to a suspension. In addition to hearing cases, I participated in the drafting, editing, and implementation of new and updating of the Franklin and Marshall Student Code of Conduct. I also participated in weekly meetings with the college's Deans and the Department of Public Safety for case reviews and updates on problems that arose on campus. Throughout this process, I was required to keep confidentiality.
