My team's role within Fleet Engineering is to maintain fleet safety and continued airworthiness whilst providing a cutting edge, cost effective, in-flight experience for the travelling public on the Virgin Australia domestic and international fleet.Major projects included the A330 and B777 Business Class upgrade and Tiger Airways WiFi IFE.

Under the governance structure of the Aircraft Commercial Project group within Qantas I function as the Project Manager for projects relating to aircraft system upgrades and reconfigurations. My role being technical within the project management discipline requires knowledge of aircraft systems as well as project management principles.

As a contractor for Jobs Technical I was deployed to Qantas Airways. The primary purpose of the role was to review all the modification programs that were in place under the Rockwell Collins controlled system of maintenance for the In-Flight Entertainment systems on the Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft. This was a ‘turn-key’ maintenance agreement that has ceased and the programs needed to be transferred to the Qantas system of maintenance. In addition, I was the primary technical contact for in service issues related to;Coffee makersCrew rest compartmentsCockpit lightingCabin powerAirbus A380 connectivity (cabin wireless)

Initially located at the Brisbane Heavy Maintenance facility under the Chief Structural Engineer my role involved;Assistance with documentation procedures for aircraft structural repairsFamiliarization with the Heavy Maintenance process and Qantas system of maintenanceAfter completing my studies I was transferred to Qantas Avionics Engineering in Sydney to conduct a review of all Qantas approved modifications to Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

Employed by a small but local industry leading company I was part of a team that offered expert advice on GPS systems. The job required personalized assessment of a customer’s requirements to tailor a system solution utilizing GPS navigation.
