During my time at Danby’s, my colleagues taught me everything; from safely running and operating the bandsaw, all the way to programming and operating 2 Hurco VM10 machines. While I would mainly work with the VM10’s, I would occasionally work on the VM20 that was available for larger plate work, or big quantity orders. I could also be trusted to be shown how to operate some programmes for the TM6 and TM8 general purpose lathes, although I had not been taught how to programme these machines.I can freely interpret engineering drawings to establish the most efficient way to complete the job, while using a plethora of measuring devices to ensure all tolerances are followed. I have used various measuring devices during my time at Danby’s, including: digital calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, thread plugs and gauge rings, gauge blocks, depth gauges and micrometers and plain plug gauges. These were all used and recalibrated regularly to ensure accurate and consistent results, as well as the use of zero setters, vice parallels and edge finders when setting tools and material within the machine.
