My role is to assist the site manager in the completion of the project on time, within budget and to a quality standard that myself, the client and CCG expect. Throughout each construction project my responsibilities range from programming, monitoring & reporting of works progress; liaising with suppliers, sub-contractors, local authorities and project stakeholders; material procurement and control; quality inspections and supervising operatives while ensuring health & safety procedures are adhered to throughout the site.

In my role as a Trainee Assistant Site Manager with CCG, I learnt more about the wider construction industry and building methods used in domestic housebuilding. Some of my key responsibilities in this role include: ensuring health & safety rules and procedures are being followed throughout the site, delegating tasks to forklift ops, labourers and scaffolders.Carrying out weekly scaffold inspections & quality inspections throughout the build process of individual plots highlighting any defects or issues which could cause problems down the line.Carrying out site inductions for all new operatives & visitors to site which allows me to set the bar for what is expected from everyone on site.

Carrying out electrical installation works on both domestic and commercial properties. I was responsible for ensuring that all works carried out were too a high standard and in line with the most recent version of the electrical installation regulations BS7671. Undertaking planned and reactive maintenance for various NHS Trusts, Commercial Clients & Housing Associations across Scotland gave me a wide knowledge of fault diagnosis & repair, as well as having responsibility for the quoting & ordering of materials for individual jobs.Carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) for Housing Associations and private landlords to report on the condition of and ensure electrical installations were safe for continued use, while identifying any hazards and recording these on the EICR document.Throughout my time as a 3rd & 4th year apprentice and as a tradesman, I was given responsibility of supervising apprentices and newly qualified tradesman ensuring they learn all the practical and theoretical knowledge required to carry out the role of an electrician.
