Production Artist
Pheromone By Christopher Marley
Salem, Oregon
Designed and produced three-dimensional artwork using natural specimens of many types, for retail, wholesale, commission, and museum customers. Used expert attention to detail and high aesthetic standards to hand-select, prepare, arrange, and mount a wide variety of artifacts for wall display. Inspected and repaired artwork, specimens, mats, and frames, and managed an ever-growing inventory of supplies. Worked closely with feathers, shells, plants, minerals, and even whole animals. Designed complex mat layouts using a CAD program and cut them using a large CNC mat cutting machine. Collaborated with a small production team to process orders, keep track of progress, and meet deadlines. Developed and maintained best practices in handling and preparing/preserving specimens, applying glues and chemicals, and protecting finished artwork. Trained other artists and created an updateable training manual. Assisted Christopher Marley in the research and development process for new specimens, preservation techniques, and display methods. Produced art pieces for large touring museum exhibits. Assisted in the creation and installation of the "Exquisite Creatures" exhibit at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).
