Leader of Duke's team in the 2018 international Genetic Engineering Machine (iGEM) competition in Boston. The project goal is to produce Taxol, a chemotherapy drug, in order to greatly reduce the cost of manufacturing and treatments. The modular design we built allowed easy adaptation for next-generation taxanes with enhanced chemical properties such as reduced toxicity, better solubility, and increased effectiveness. Presented our project at the iGEM 2018 competition in Boston among 365 teams around the globe.

Researched how olfactory signals modulate locomotion in fruit flies. Used optogenetics to activate olfactory neurons and analyzed movement trace patterns to see how individual neurons affected their paths. Performed electrophysiology to record neural activity of single olfactory cells. Took part in Duke's Summer Neuroscience Program for professional development.
