I knew the building owner worked out of that office. I introduced myself and told him I owned a striping business and wanted to stripe his parking lot. He loved the initiative and agreed. I didn't realize I needed specialized equipment, but that didn't deter me. I quickly scrambled to procure the right equipment and get the job done, turning this first "yes" into a successful summer business throughout high school and college. I enjoy being out and meeting new people, getting to know them, and figuring out how I can help. I'm unafraid to put myself out there. I love the feeling of achievement—securing a meeting, bringing on a new client, closing a sale, delivering value, and earning a "thank you"—positively moving the needle.
