For the past three years, I have worked in countryside Japan teaching English. I was employed by Interac, a Japanese dispatch company, however, most of my professional interactions were with the schools and Board of Education in Kasai city. A majority of my three years in Kasai were spent teaching at a Hojo Junior High School and Kasai Special Needs School. Four days a week, and one day a week respectively.I also worked at a local elementary school, as well as sporadically at a number of kindergartens. During my time at these schools I was responsible for brainstorming, creating and delivering English lesson, to entertain and engage students of all ages. Averaging around five classes a day, covering a wide range of grammar and vocabulary, as well as, student interest and skill level.I liked to make my classes as interactive and attention grabbing as possible, utilising, props, new media, music, anime, film, comics and even games to encourage, as well as demonstrate, English use in daily life. At Kasai Special Needs school, I also assisted with classes outside of English, including maths, PE and home economics, and participated at school fairs, sleep overs, sports days, celebrations and graduations. I was also helped run a local English School Camp in the summer months.

My position within the State Library of Victoria encompassed varying responsibilities and departments and as such involved quite a bit of time management and multitasking. Primarily I worked within the Service Delivery and Design department assisting with patron inquiries, children’s activities, IT support, organising training sessions for library staff, as well as supervising front of house staff, rostering and daily schedules for my team. I worked in an administrative capacity, compiling statistics, taking and distributing minutes and liaising with other departments. I was also a member of various working groups to discuss and develop new policies and procedures for front of house service. A highlight was working with the Arts Department, sorting and cataloguing their vast comic collection.

My role within the City Council was varied, however my main duties involved manning the front desk of each shire service centre, carrying out day to day duties within the local libraries, including Story Time and creative activities for children's groups and taking calls at the Latrobe City Council call centre.
