I helped develop a blood-based cancer diagnostic and prognostic tool, called a Synthetic Lectin Array, that works by detecting aberrant glycoproteins secreted or emitted by tumor cells. To do this, I analyzed healthy and cancerous breast tissues with the Synthetic Lectin Array, using a bead-based flow cytometry platform with with fluorescent emission detection. I also investigated the N-linked glycans, in breast cancer, interacting with each of the Synthetic Lectins in the array by hydrophilic liquid chromatography and ion trap electrospray mass spectrometry.

Isolated polymorphonuclear leukocytes from human blood in order to gain more insight into NETosis as an immune response to Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.Routinely performed quantitative DNA and Protein assays on the samples collected from PMN cultures infected with different bacteria strains of PA. Ran agarose gels and western blots to better characterize the proteins and DNA excreted as NETs (Neutrophil Extracellular Traps). Developed a procedure to isolate and quantify Outer Membrane Vesicles from Pseudomonas Aeruginosa strains, in order to examine the their effective use as a defense mechanism for PA against NETs.

Researched the resistance of the N95 certified surgical masks of various companies to viral transmission in the event of a pandemic.Used a bio aerosol with M2 virus particles, and used E. coli as the indicator to any transmission through the last layer of the masks.Researched the effectiveness of the N95 surgical masks to direct splash and the wickability of the liquid through the fabrics.
