I developed SQUIRLS, a new AI-powered algorithm for identification of pathogenic genomic mutations that alter mRNA splicing.SQUIRLS is designed to be used in bioinformatics frameworks that combine clinical patient data with output of genomics experiments, such as long read whole genome sequencing, to improve diagnostics and to enhance precision genomics medicine.

During my PhD study, I developed bioinformatics pipelines for analysis of whole exome sequencing data. The aim of the analysis was to identify genomic mutations responsible for sensory or metabolic disorders in a cohort of Slovak patients. Finding the causal mutations allowed us to make the accurate diagnosis, which, in cooperation with clinicians, resulted in personalized therapy.
