I'm a highly experienced attorney working primarily in the bankruptcy, workout, restructuring and finance-related world. For more than 40 years I've represented banks, companies, individuals and others in just about every kind of debtor-creditor related matter that you might encounter. Along the way I've developed a myriad of skills; I've handled all manner of bankruptcy cases, documented and restructured loans and other transactions, helped my clients buy and sell companies, litigated disputes, and become a mediator. My work for clients routinely demands special attention to tight timelines. I excel at being responsive to problems, meeting deadlines and turning matters around for my clients on their schedules. I'm good at simplifying the complex, and am rational, sensible, pragmatic and effective in my dealings with others.

  I started as an associate in 1983, in Dickinson Wright's Detroit office and became a partner (now member) in 1989. From 1993 to 1999 I was resident in the Firm's office in Chicago, Illinois, moving to the Firm's Grand Rapids, Michigan office in late 1999. Since moving to Grand Rapids I've served on the Firm's Governing Board, and as the Management Liaison for the Grand Rapids office. From 2018-2021 I was the Chair of the Firm's Bankruptcy Practice Group.
