The objects of the Institute shall be to restore and/or enhance the natural biodiversity of Australia and elsewhere through:a) researching and refining captive propagation and related husbandry techniques necessary to establish secure and genetically robust captive ‘insurance’ populations of selected threatened species;b) collaborating with relevant government agencies, research institutes, corporations and where appropriate, private land-owners to select potential areas of suitable habitat and provide disease-free specimens for re-introduction and/or trans-location programs;c) coordinating, where appropriate, with the activities of other public and private initiatives involved in promoting conservation management of threatened species and their habitats;d) promoting the activities and achievements of the Institute; ande) engaging with government and the private sector in order to solicit operational funds to support actives of the Institute.

Daniel Gowland is the Facility Manager of Priam Psittaculture Centre. Priam Psittaculture Centre (PPC) is a specialist Research and Breeding facility of Australian and exotic parrots and endangered native mammals. PPC is Australia’s first and only CITES approved captive management program for an Appendix I species. Daniel encourages the awareness of the conservation needs of parrots through education. To establish, a conservation network that assists parrots in their natural environment, and to stimulate research into aviculture technology, especially in the areas of incubation, hand-rearing, aviary design, remote surveillance monitoring and the nutritional and psychological needs of captive parrots.Daniel has been invited numerous times to provide expert advice to the zoological and aviculture community globally, regarding the captive housing and management of endangered species. This has included many presentations at conferences, covering topics on parrot nutrition, husbandry, innovative enclosure design, hand-rearing, and incubation techniques. Most recently his expertise has been requested to assist with the critically endangered Western-ground parrot Pezoporus flaviventris.The diverse knowledge at PPC R&B saw the expansion into breeding small native mammals and amphibians, such as the New Holland Mouse Pseudomys novaehollandiae, Northern Quoll Dasyurus hallucatus, Smoky Mouse Pseudomys fumeus and Green & Gold Bell Frog Litoria aurea. These creatures are for reintroduction and insurance programs.The PPC R&B facility is involved in the Australian Federal Government Captive Recovery Breeding Program for the Orange-bellied Parrot Neophema chrysogaster of which Daniel is Chairperson for the OBP Captive Management Group and member of the Strategic Action Planning Group and Veterinary Technical Reference Group.Through PPC R&B Daniel has worked extensively with the Australian Federal Government on the export and import of Cites listed parrots internationally.

Chief UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Operator.Operations Manager.Design, Technician, Manufacturer & Maintenance.Daniel Gowland is certified by CASA and holds a UAV Operators Certificate: Licence number: 1-XLCKW-01Daniels interest in UAV design, manufacture and filming, originated at the University of Wollongong studying as a Theatre Technician and Designer for a Bachelor of Creative Arts. This followed the completion of a Diploma in Architectural Design and Drafting. Daniel worked in the production industry throughout Australia and completed a course in Multimedia Production at Metro Screen. During this time, remotely piloted technology was on the brink of a major leap in evolution, and the industry was starting to gain momentum.During early 2000, when the evolution of mobile communications boomed across the world, the size and cost of sensory components started to trickle into the community of Radio Controlled design. It was with this flush of new components that the opportunity to construct stable fliyng platforms beacame a reality. From the late seventies where Daniel was first exposed to the radio controlled community – where the mechanical set and and control of the crafts were solely a reflection of the direct action of the pilot. To the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles/ UAVs of today, Daniel has experienced almost thirty years of maturing with a technology that is now safer than ever. This has lead Daniel to become a highly experienced, skilled and agile pilot.
