I am a hard-working and conscientious student. I am able to work successfully both as an individualand as part of a team and I have a genuine passion for engineering and science which I believe makesme suited to undertaking a degree and career in mechanical engineering. Recent work experience ata local engineering firm has confirmed to me that this is the career path that I wish to follow.My part-time job as a lifeguard combines my love of swimming with helping people. I have learntmany transferable skills including customer service, conflict resolution, risk assessment, and beingresponsible for the safety of others. I have received praise from my managers with regard to myprofessional and friendly manner, for always being punctual and reliable, and for being willing to takeon additional tasks as required. Most recently, I have been assisting the swimming teachers indelivering swimming lessons to children of all ages, which I have found very rewarding. I enjoyworking as part of a team and we have monthly team training to maintain competencies in rescuetechniques and first aid knowledge which I believe is an essential life skill. In the past, I have been amember of a swimming club and a water polo club. My other interests include mountain biking,bouldering, tennis, and badminton.
