InteLex Corporation produces the world's largest series of primary source full-text electronic editions of philosophy, including significant collections in the history of political thought and theory, religious studies, education, German studies, sociology, the history and philosophy of science, economics, and classics. Since coming on board in 2008, I have developed and managed InteLex's public facing framework, customer tools, internal production systems, and text handling processes. I have created and maintained applications tailored to our specific needs, primarily with Ruby on Rails and XSLT; coordinated the workflows of programmers, graphic artists, and editors; and insured their productivity via thorough documentation and training. Notably recruited talent to translate our Past Masters site interface into seven different languages; our original texts appear in 10 languages plus many English translations.

A faculty research position, collection management required coordinating with faculty at institutions around the world and researchers on the ground in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal and India, as well as handling Web content development using a wide variety of applications. Acted as technical liaison with UVa Library and ITC technical staff and system administrators, and performed general site development and maintenance duties. I note that the THDL was entirely separate from my own Tibet communications projects, which I have been steering since 1995.

Managed Web development department for mid-sized software company providing dynamic employment classified services to 100 newspapers across the United States, delivering millions of pages daily. I successfully bridged the gap between the business and technology sides of the company by forging a common documentation and procedural resource center for customer service, software development, and quality assurance departments. Also managed relations with outsourced development staff in India as CareerSite transitioned from proprietary content publishing system to XSLT/Cocoon framework.

Directed technical development and project managed multidisciplinary team assessment protocol software for outpatient rehabilitation facilities; clients include Mayo Clinic and the United States Department of Defense. Successfully developed software interface for state of the art protocols that incorporate many different health care professionals for many different diseases and syndromes. Planned and built RTA Web site; co-wrote business plan and budget. Initiated development of national rehabilitation model based in Ghana, Africa, using RTA protocols.

San Francisco, Ca

Created the production department as well as the editorial, art and production processing systems for this massive “nearing retirement age” community Web site that served millions of pages per month at its peak. I also built the prototype site which pulled in the first major round of venture capital investment. I managed the Web production department, and later, managed Client Services production, overseeing technical relations with clients such as Merril Lynch, Tylenol, Clairol and American Century Investments.
