Stem Cell Engineering Research Assistant
I was fortunate enough to conduct critical research at the renowned Gage Lab at the Salk Institute, a leading institution acclaimed for its work on neurogenesis, neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders. My work there was primarily centered on stem cell engineering for Alzheimer's Disease, a vital area of study in today's neuroscience landscape. Through a scholarship I received from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), I had the opportunity to participate in a mentorship program at the Gage Lab. This enabled me to work alongside distinguished scientists, using state-of-the-art techniques and technologies to delve into this pivotal research area. A significant part of my role involved interviewing candidates and asking essential questions to help clarify data and experiment results. I was also entrusted with managing data-related requests from research faculty, a responsibility I took very seriously. In addition to these duties, I aided fellow researchers with data collection and interpretation, contributing to the lab's innovative research, particularly in the area of neurogenesis. Unfortunately, due to the impacts of COVID-19, my time at the lab was cut short. However, the knowledge and experiences I gained were invaluable. I even had the privilege of presenting my findings at a symposium, a testament to the quality and importance of the research conducted at the Gage Lab.
