In addition to successfully negotiating with literary agencies and publishers for audio rights to a number of high-earning frontlist titles, I have also creatively sourced rights for such hidden gems as Lucille Ball’s deep backlist memoir Love, Lucy, Heather Cox Richardson’s historical treatise How the South Won the Civil War, and Esme Weijun Wang’s collection of personal essays Collected Schizophrenias. More recently, I've overseen the publication of previously neglected classics and negotiated for celebrity narration with top talent agencies.

My reviews and criticism have appeared in Slate, Brooklyn Magazine, and FLOOD Magazine, where I also served as a contributing editor. My essay on The Room was published in the muti-volume set Cult Pop Culture, and Kirkus described my first book, Super Pop, as "weird, witty, and endlessly entertaining." I also contributed the essays in the book "Plotted: A Literary Atlas," which received two starred reviews.

As publishing director at Zest Books I significantly broadened Zest's reach by establishing a new imprint for adult readers while also honing in on several well established target areas -- including memoirs, graphic novels, and pop culture/humor books. My tenure saw Zest's annual publication count increase from six titles in 2011, to twelve in 2013, to fifteen books in 2015, all without any increase in staffing. As a result, our revenue tripled while our expenses decreased. And we received ten starred reviews between 2013 and 2016.

Doubled Zest's annual title output. Signed and edited the first Zest book to ever print more than 10,000 copies or achieve more than 40,000 copies in sales. Oversaw the relaunch of Zest's website. Signed all new Zest books, and supervised the core team of writers and freelance editors behind Zest's developing line of smart, funny, and provocative non-fiction books for teens and young adults. Ensured the quality of everything that appeared either in print or online.

Pitched personal pieces and general stories for the Brokelyn.com website. Interviewed various Brooklyn venues for short features.

Transformed Praeger's pop culture list from an academic assortment of genre surveys into a provocative, relevant, and well-reviewed set of titles on America's most popular artists and phenomena. Negotiated contract terms with an increasingly high-profile collection of authors, including multiple trade authors. Contributed numerous feature articles for Pop Culture Universe (PCU) blog, linking the company’s books to pop cultural phenomena.With ABC-Clio I also collaborated with marketing and management on a comprehensive strategic plan for all pop culture titles through the year 2015, and commissioned essays for two new databases on pop culture and daily life.

Reviewed title lists from a wide array of publishers and agencies in the New York area, and recommended new projects for Vook adoption. Created over 100 Vook proposals with specific recommendations for image, link, and video enhancements. Assisted with early outreach efforts on twitter and facebook.

Assisted Praeger editors in transmitting final manuscripts, composing and editing catalog copy, obtaining endorsements, and performing administrative tasks. Assumed responsibility for all Praeger pop culture titles.
