Responsible for the manufacturing operations of the Teagle production facility at Blackwater to produce an ever expanding range of technologically advancing farm machinery while overseeing and contributing to a range of continuous improvement initiatives. Having a strong background in the design and development of mechanical systems including structural integrity certainly helps with the development of bespoke factory jigs and fixtures which is improving invaluable to streamlining the operation permitting the company to produce a greater range of products at any one time. The production facility is steadily moving away from batch production towards continuous production of a number of products within the portfolio allowing us to reduce lead times and meet customer expectations.

Building on the experience gained in my previous role as Project Design Engineer, my current position affords me the responsibility to oversee and provide strong technical leadership to a number of concurrent projects to deliver value and functionality to meet the operating requirements of the company. With responsibility to budget and schedule resource, I contribute to the management of the engineering department while maintaining the functions of technical advisor and design and calculation approver. The emphasis of the current role is to improve design efficiency by reducing the exploration of non viable solutions to provide a reactive resource to the operations business units of the company. With regular liaison with other departments such as procurement and manufacturing, a best practice approach to the delivery of bespoke offshore plant is being developed.

With responsibilities for the design and scheduled delivery of a number of contract based offshore engineering projects to meet the requirements of a reactive subsea drilling contractor, I was able to develop my engineering skills and technical knowledge to a level commensurate with achieving CEng status with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Building on a practical knowledge of mechanical engineering and 10 years product development with Solidworks and Solidworks simulation software, an extensive technical knowledge of structural design with the use of STAAD Pro software was gained. Engineering for the marine environment also provided exposure to the requirement to produce design verification reports for submission to ships classification societies such as DNV GL. Engineering development included the mobilisation and DNV design verification of offshore geotechnical drilling equipment aboard vessels of opportunity. I led the conceptual development of an offshore actively compensated geotechnical drill capable of drilling in water depths of up to 3000m complete with a semi automatic API pipe handling crane and racking system. Development of the company's existing range of large diameter subsea socket drilling plant was also undertaken to meet ever changing client requirements within short time schedules. The most notable and satisfying development within this position was overseeing the technical development as design lead for the WaveWalker 1 bi-directional walking self elevating jackup platform. The commitment and technical knowledge of the team assisted the company in completing this challenging project from conception to delivery within 18 months. I was proud to accept a British Engineering Excellence Award (BEEA) at a presentation ceremony in 2013 on behalf of the Fugro Seacore in recognition of this outstanding engineering achievement.

Lead engineer in the design and development of bespoke plant for use in agriculture and associated industries for a leading UK manufacturer marketing an extensive range of products globally. Responsibilities included managing the design office and R&D workshop to not only develop new products but also to take them to production with completion of production engineering including design and manufacture of jigs and fixtures right through to the writing of operators/workshop manuals and assisting in the production of marketing material. I developed a number of novel solutions during my association with the company not least the Dual Chop range of Tomahawk bale shredders used extensively in agricultural and industrial straw processing applications alike.
