I am a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with over 20 years experience in physical medicine. I have a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and a Masters in Clinical Research. I am an Accredited Hand Therapist with over 15 years experience in this specialism. I was first awarded this title at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, October 2013.I have extensive experience in treating traumatic hand injuries (such as wrist fractures, hand trauma and complex regional pain syndrome), conditions affecting the upper limb (such as carpal tunnel syndrome and osteoarthritis) and the post-operative management of orthopaedic hand procedures (such as trapeziectomy and carpal tunnel release).I am a recognised international expert in this field, publishing in related journals and presenting at international hand therapy conferences. I have also contributed to the direction of the specialism by peer reviewing for the journal "Hand Therapy" of which I also am on the Editorial Board. I have published in the Journal of Hand Therapy, Hand, Journal of Burn Care and Rehabilitation and Hand Therapy along with a public science article for RTe Brainstorm.I was a scientific reviewer for the International Federation Societies of Hand Therapists (IFSHT) Congress in 2019 and 2022. I am the Publications Officer for the International Federation Societies of Hand Therapists overseeing REACH and IFSSH ezine contributions. In 2021, I finished my three year tenure on the Royal College Of Occupational Therapists Research and Development Board.I recently was an Academic Supervisor as part of an Intertrade Ireland Fusion project, working with industry partners to successfully develop sports apparel to help prevent hand injuries.
