Friction Lab Technician/Quality Supervisor

My responsibility was to support in the improvement of STEMCO’s product line in the commercial vehicle equipment market. I was the principle friction laboratory technician responsible for assisting product engineering in product development, performance and technology for all friction materials to be manufactured at the new Rome, GA facility.*Responsible for prototyping capability, laboratory testing, and quality control support. This includes working with equipment manufacturers to build and buy laboratory equipment, assisting in material formulation development with product engineering, and writing test procedures.*Responsible for maintaining AMECA ratings for all friction materials, and laboratory accreditation. Which includes J661 CHASE tests for all friction formulations.*Technical contact with our joint venture friction partner in South America. Responsible for all incoming performance testing and testing methods for finished and unfinished friction block, including J661 CHASE tests, swell and growth, specific gravity, and acetone extraction.*Overseen all laboratory testing for incoming raw materials from suppliers, including acetone extraction, bulk density, moisture analyzation, resin flow, hot plate cure, and particle size analysis. *Assisted product engineer with design and process of mixing and dosing system for production equipment, including silo storage for raw materials and automatic dispensing of raw material components.
