This role has enabled me to further improve my customer service skills, along with being able to serve a high volume of customers quickly and to a professional standard, along with maintaining the cleanliness of the store and the stock levels.

I was brought into one of the largest stores in the region to work on the Meat & Fish Counters, here I learnt a variety of skills, which included learning how to gut, fillet and trim fish, and to butcher various cuts of meat, along with adding to my customer service skills and being able to maintain and supply a variety of products to an area of the store. I was also responsible for the organisation of the chillers, requiring a high level of organisational skills, ensuring that the large amount of staff who used the chillers were able to find products quickly and efficiently, leading to higher levels of customer satisfaction. Another key skill learnt was stock rotation.

I was involved in the initial establishment and the initial running of this store, I was able to bring my previous experience within optics and specifically Specsavers to greatly benefit the running of the retail side of the store. I quickly became one of the senior members of the retail staff, helping newer staff, get to grips with complex optical knowledge, leading them to be able to provide a high standard of service, professionalism and confidence when serving patients. This role greatly developed my ability to lead a team of people, which I am incredibly proud of what I achieved within this setting.

This was my first position within Optics and Retail, I learned a great variety of skills;-Customer Service -Cash Management -Till Operations -Diary Management -Sales Skills -Pre Testing of Patients -Understanding of NHS practices -Dispensing of Lens's-Time management -Effective Communication skills
