Mechanical Engineer
CurrentContract/Freelance Mechanical Engineering. I have provided engineering services to a wide range of clients from multinational companies with $B sales to stealth mode start-ups with no full time employees funded by grants and VCs.Services I have been contracted for include:- Signal analysis development for medical devices using Matlab. I developed code to reduce hundreds of thousands of pressure and temperature data points to a handful of useful biomarkers giving clinicians empirical data to assess at-risk neonates. In clinical trials as of 2023.- Noise and vibration assessment and counter measure/noise reduction design changes for consumer appliances with pump, motor and/or fan noise. Development with the client's design engineers of best practices in the design stage.- Consulting on the set-up for an acoustic measurement space. Size considerations, optimizing DUT and microphone locations, time and spatial averaging of measurements, assessing microphone and analysis software, surface treatments of lab, and importantly knowing what you can and cannot measure in a given space.- Development of a specialized temperature measurement data acquisition system including sensor trade-offs, calibration of the sensors + signal conditioning + data acq as a system, programming and running the chosen off-the-shelf data acq, and reporting results to aid development of a novel cooling device.- Solidworks part, assembly, and drawing support for multiple projects.- Fan flow and power requirement estimation and fan selection for projects with heat transfer concerns.
