Again, mainly working in C/C++ but at a level so low it sometimes involved assembler coding and required a lot of insight into the working of the CPU and RAM of the device.

Cross Technology Solutions hired me to work on an invention they were trying to productify. Because the project had not yet started when I was hired, I continued working as a consulting software engineer until the plans had solidified and I could start working full time on the project in the latter half of 2008.I was the system architect and technical project lead on LifePod project, a medical device for life style monitoring of diabetic patients.This was a project done in several stages. First was a proof of concept hand-held device (this was before smart phones had made their breakthrough). We based our prototype on the Nokia N800 and N810 linux tablet device. This application was written in C (GTK/Maemo).The second big stage was an android application for the open market. The product comes in two parts, the Android app that is used by patients to monitor their day-to-day health and lifestyle choices. The second is a medical interface used by medical professionals to access their patients medical data which in turn helps them make informed decisions on which patients to see and how often to see them.I was systems architect and developed the server software and large parts of the android application as well (Java/PHP/JavaScript/HTML/CSS/Python).The project is ongoing but I am no longer a member of the team.

Software development of Prismalflex software (emergency dialysis machine) with focus on improving existing software. The Prismaflex is an emergency dialysis machine, originally developed in Italy, which was taken over by the Lund office. The goal was to improve the software and continuing developing the device.The software was written in C/C++ and was extensively documented (as medical products need to be). Here I learned the differences between developing an product with industrial safety and one with medical safety.

I worked in the PIM (personal information management) project, with focus on the phone book parts (specifically serving the application with the data). Work was mainly in C and C++. After working there for a while I was charged with designing a new API for accessing the phonebook which would be the same for USIM/SIM contacts, flash contacts and external data source contacts.

I was charged with rewriting the Modulebus protocol handling software in one part of the AC800M system. The project required documenting the development process and converting the existing software into object oriented C++ code.At ABB we used semiformal methods, the V-model, producing a system design, software design, implementation, unit tests, integration tests and system tests. I was involved in this whole process from beginning to end and learned the real value of doing this thoroughly.
