About Daniel Herrera

International Supply Chain Management – Manufacturing & Distribution Specialities: Supply Chain modelling, International Commerce, Enterprise Strategies & Logistics OptimizationMy goal has always been to advise my clients on the best supply chain model with a balance between economic and operational factors to suit their needs. Attaining this objective requires identifying the internal capabilities of the organization and the specific characteristics and strengths of each product involved in the supply chain, as well as the set of logistic systems needed to achieve an appropriate materials procurement policy and efficient product distribution, through the most suitable channels. All this analysis is set within the framework of an integrated information model (ERP, CRM, WMS) capable of providing traceability of the most critical processes. This activity is pursued in an international context, in which I have succeeded in defining global strategies for multinational clients

Design of a logistic and operational modelThe provisioning, restocking, collection, service and maintenance strategies have been defined for the entire vending machine network. The project focuses on analyzing demand according to flows of people in public transport stations (underground, tram, bus, rail). After more than a year in operation, the model proposed has proved to be ideal for a hybrid business model between traditional vending (snacks and coffee) and retailing.Optimization & KPIIn order to follow the business growth plan, I’ve developed a new logistic model to be implemented with full integration with the ERP. The aim was to trace all the products starting at the warehouse inbounds/reprocessing until customer delivery. The process was settled under a QR code able to trace all the processes involved (production batch, picking, cash collecting, delivery and invoicing). After 1 year the deliveries issues were reduced over 98%.In addition a KPI board was created to trace the critical process involved in the purchase process. After the implementation the bill acceptance improved and the maintenance cost reduced over 50%.Expansion ProjectAfter a tender process, the company is extending its services to other major cities in Spain (Madrid and Valencia), and a minimum operational assessment project has therefore been carried out to determine the optimum scale for establishing a new operations center and provisioning for the new network. The project was based on a study of the adapted and standardized sales variables, as well as an analysis of operational and management costs for new market regions.

    Senior Supply Chain Specialist
    Inmarsat Apr 2011 - Oct 2011
    London, England, United Kingdom
Logistics Development for Inmarsat’s IsatPhone Worldwide Sale and RMA ProcessA logistic model has been defined for distribution and returns of the IsatPhone product, in its IsatPhone and IsatPhone DUO versions, on an international scale. To achieve efficient distribution, the specific requirements of the highly distinctive satellite telephone distribution chain were taken into account when designing the master cartons and how they are palletized. The operational concepts needed to select a suitable 3PL for the product were also defined. Finally, the information flows required for detailed traceability of the operational processes involved were defined, as well as the working conditions and arrangements for integration with the selected 3PL. After more than two years in operation, the model has proved to be efficient and economical.

A project-based information management system has been implemented in a company with an international profile in the HORECA (hotel, restaurant and catering) sector. The basic objective is to achieve interdepartmental integration among the Commercial, Technical, Operations and Technical Service departments. For this purpose, a process and information flow with partial objectives has been defined, with the ultimate aim of analyzing every operation (project) carried out. The system, which has been up and running for over three years, records all interdepartmental activity, offering to monitor in real-time (integration with ERP) of consumption of resources and costs associated with each project. The development of this system has made it possible to obtain ISO 900 & ISO 14000 certifications.

    Southwing Nov 2005 - Oct 2007
    Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
In 2005, SouthWing was establishing itself as a trailblazing company in the design and manufacture of Bluetooth® products. During the company’s start-up period I organized overall product distribution, creating a cost structure according to Incoterms. The result obtained was a reduction of over 30% in domestic deliveries and 70% in international shipping. I also coordinated the outsourcing process for RMA, technical and cosmetic reprocessing, and 3PL. Finally, I developed a logistical cost control system which made it possible to identify and view the various cost centers associated with each department, enabling commercial procedures to be refocused and determining the Product Manager’s actions for subsequent product lines.
