Projects:1) Worked to improve access to Druid Hill Park as a means to improving the health and well-being of the surrounding community. I worked as part of a coalition through the 7th district city councilman's office. Please see the Op-Ed listed under publications below. I received a grant from the Bloomberg American Health Initiative to investigate through surveys the sociodemographic features of residents in two neighborhoods adjoining the park and whether or not they use the park. This work also involved survey questions that seek to develop a more holistic understanding of urban green space access. 2) Worked with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy to engage two historic minority communities that live along the proposed Baltimore Greenway Trail in order to inform the implementation of the trail. The goal is to ensure that the trail is created with a focus on health equity. This work was funded by a grant from the Bloomberg American Health Initiative. 3) Participated in research on the association of living in housing subsidized by the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program with health outcomes. As part of a team led by my primary mentor, Craig Pollack, we are seeking to better understand the impact of LIHTC housing and housing subsidies on health for low-income individuals.4) Work and research on the development of a telephone medicine curriculum for medical students on their Pediatric core clerkship. 5) Exploratory analysis of the experience of Hispanics in assisted housing using nationally representative data.
