I have 7 years’ extensive experience and notable achievements in cattle marketing, covering on farm private treaty sales as well as auctions and internet-based sales. I have 6 years’ experience selling agricultural equipment, of which the last three years were at Branch Manager level.With 6 years’ experience running the beef enterprise on our family Estates totalling 20,000 acres and 13 years’ experience as owner / CEO of a large commercial farming enterprise on 2550 acres, half of the acreage being under intensive cropping programmes including 120 acres of runner beans under lights. My farm was one of 3 EurepGap accredited farms in Zimbabwe at the time, producing Runner beans, Mangetout peas and baby corn for export to the European and UK markets. 100 – 200 acres Virginia (Flue cured) tobacco was part of my cropping programme and maintained a top 5% position as a producer for several years. 350 people were employed on the farm. I have more than 30 years’ experience in Cattle Husbandry and Stockmanship, including 20 years of Beef Herd management, managing a breeding cow herd of 600 head which included 2 stud herds for breeding our own bulls. I have extensive practical experience in Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer and Pregnancy Diagnosis. I judged the Beef Commercial Heifer Class (all breeds) at the Royal Agricultural Show in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa for 2 years. I have consulted for several breeders and specialised in selecting their replacement breeding stock. I have 6 years’ experience as a qualified Real Estate Agent and several years managing commercial businesses in the Agricultural industry. For the last 5 years I have been conducting trials to research best cultural practices in tobacco production. I have been coordinating the CPA compliance protocols in Zambia for the last 2 years.
