I am a trained journalist and English teacher, and have over 40 years experience working in most sectors of society, including Education, Media, Mining and Industrial, Health, and Transport. I was 16 when I first worked throughout the Australian mining industry from 1975-1980 at Newman, Port Hedland, Pannawonnica, Wickham and Koolan Island.I graduated from a BA in Journalism and Cultural Communications from Curtin in 1984, and had a few years as a journalist, editor and copy writer in print and radio before choosing more healthier options.I then spent 15 years as a yoga teacher throughout Australia, India and South America.Returning to study post 2000, I graduated from Central TAFE with a diploma in marketing and management. From 2003-2006 I taught Marketing and Management at affiliated TAFE colleges in China (Hefei city, Anhui province; and in Beijing).From 2007-2011 I worked as a technical writer with Cell-Media, scripting the DVD and online site induction and training programs for many of Australia's largest mining, shipping, industrial, and transport companies. From 2012-17 I taught the SEE program for Mission Australia in Carnarvon, WA; and for SMYL at the Rockingham Campus, in the southern region of Perth, WA. This involved learning, teaching and empathising with indigenous Australian learners, as well as migrants from every continent on Earth. It is a job with great rewards and deep learning capacity.
