High Power Laser System Development Served as lead laser scientist on DARPA HELLADS program. Supervised the technical aspects of the design of a 150kW, ruggedized, light weight, high-performance laser system to externally and internally provided requirements. Supervised and participated in the design, build and test of a 1/3 scale demonstration unit.Laser diode array diagnostic developmentDeveloped diagnostic laboratory for evaluating power, spectral characteristics and lifetime of high power diode arrays. Developed spectral imaging system to probe each element of diode array. Modeled and optimized system in ZEMAX. Direct Eye-Safe Laser Development Investigated a fiber pumped, face cooled architecture for an eye-safe Er:YAG laser. This was an extension of a successful diamond cooled Nd:YAG laser concept developed under Textron IRAD. Eye-Safe Laser Illuminator Development Responsible for development, assembly and operation of an OPO shifted Yb:YAG laser that was engineered for flight worthiness. Served as technical lead and actively participated in ground based tests and flight tests. Laser Radar Systems Analysis and Algorithm Development. As a member of the HI-CLASS Lidar program team, computationally modeled system for purposes of determining limits on target size and range. Developed algorithm for sub-pulsewidth size and shape recognition of space debris.

Computational modeling of the interaction of electric fields with a magnetic film in optical waveguides using Matlab. Computational modeling and optical experiments using quadrature interferometry for LADAR and imaging applications. Development of acousto-optical mine detection technique.
