Working in the public sector for a utility has been a great experience so far. In my role as Locate Clerk I respond to customer inquiries over the phone and via email, and also provide support to BHI's internal staff. I am based in the Engineering department and am responsible for many key administrative and customer service related tasks within the department and company.In my time at Burlington Hydro I have streamlined and redefined many key processes, and am continuing my professional development on a daily basis through trainings and job shadowing. I have been thriving in this demanding, challenging, fast-paced environment as a result of my years of customer service experience.

I started at The Beat Goes On as a part-time sales associate in August, 2010, at which point I was still completing my degree at UW. I was promoted to key holder status in October, 2010. Upon completing my degree in April, 2012, I was promoted to full-time Assistant Store Manager. In August 2013, I was promoted to Store Manager at The Beat Goes On.As Store Manager I practiced bar-setting customer service and ensured store staff maintained the same level of customer service and was responsible for staff scheduling, payroll and many other administrative tasks. In this role, I confidently and patiently adapted to changes in priority regularly, depending on the needs of the store and the staff. As a result of undertaking key overhauls in the store once promoted to Store Manager, the store saw continued increases in profitability. Being a music lover for my entire life, working at the Beat Goes On was a fun and exciting experience which allowed me to develop my customer service and team building skills.

When I began my studies at UW I remained at Williamsburg Home Hardware as a part-time sales associate. My responsibilities as a part-time employee were quite different from when I was a supervisor, but I still delivered exceptional customer service, merchandised seasonal displays, and handled store deliveries. I also took on the responsibility of ordering products for and organizing several different departments.

In October 2005 I started working for Williamsburg Home Hardware as the full-time supervisor of the shipping and receiving department. At the time I was hired, the store was not yet open, so this position was created right when I started. As a result of this being a new position and a new store, I was independently responsible for establishing the protocols and practices for the department. This was a very big undertaking, but I rose to the challenge and had a great time building the department from the ground up.As supervisor of this department, I developed and created inventory control procedures to accurately record incoming stock to ensure there were no significant overages and shortages. I communicated on a regular basis with the Home Hardware head office, as well as a plethora national and international suppliers.This position helped lay the groundwork for many of my key skills including my unceasing work ethic and my desire to be an innovator in whatever capacity possible.
