Sr. Staff AnalystCompuware Jul 1990 - Oct 2004Performed multiple staff supplementation roles for a number of clients. These roles included team lead, sub-system architect, senior engineer, programmer analyst and individual contributor. Over half of the time served GE Medical Systems, with other major customers being Rockwell Automation, Manpower, Cooper Power Systems and Harley-Davidson.Due to differing customer needs, these projects involved a number of technologies. The major languages for the projects included C#, Java, C++, C, Objective-C, XML, HTML, JSP, SQL and assembler and have included .NET, Microsoft™ Windows, J2EE, UNIX, Linux, DOS and embedded environments.The teams were also rather diverse. Some projects involved global development, such as the GE Medical Ultrasound systems, in which I was diagnosing system-level defects for a six-nation development team, communicating with them in a culturally-sensitive manner. For some other projects I functioned as a one person team or a team lead, taking the project through the complete engineering life cycle.I gained a reputation for developing highly robust, high performance and well documented systems. After spending two years on the error handling and internationalization requirements for CT and MR scanners at GE Medical Systems, I was moved to other projects and then another customer. About three years later, when my work was moved into their next generation products, one of the managers commented to me that the documentation was extremely clear, allowing the maintainer to understand the philosophy behind all the sub-systems as well as their details. Those sub-systems have remained almost unchanged for at least four generations of the products, mainly due to their reliability and performance. -
