I was working on methods to approximate queueing networks by using analytically calculated inter-departure times or fluid models. The developed methods were used in a simple discrete event simulation model to act as a simplification for complex models of queueing networks. Fellowship ends in April.

I was working in the long term planning and development department and responsible for the simulation and analysis of future production capacity extensions, working time models and traffic systems. In case other department saw need for a simulation project I was taking part as a consulting expert, either conducting the project itself or supervising external partners. For the macroscopic planning of the productions system I enhanced existing discrete event simulation models, designed new ones and developed calculation and visualization tools.

I lectured in discrete event simulation and was working on a new research project concerning model simplification by using hybrid simulation. I was organizing and coordinating the courses of our chair, taking the oral exams of bachelor and master theses and created a unified grading system for student theses and unified theses supervision. I was managing and carrying out research and industrial projects in the field of modeling and simulation and production planning. In one project my fields of operation were modeling of components in production systems, the coupling of the simulation kernel with a walk through 3D visualization and motion planning system. Meanwhile I used the developed tool in two industrial simulation studies to verify applicability.In another interdisciplinary project I worked on a system for aggregating the simulation data of several parallel executed simulations for real time statistical evaluation. I also wrote three applications for research projects to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, two of these in an interdisciplinary team. In teaching I was supervising several theses and seminar papers, organizing courses, grading exams and supervising student assistants.
