The interview would generate relevant contacts or places to interview or investigate that would achieve more clarity in each case. Served and issued subpoenas for the public defender’s office.Accomplishments: When I started the internship, the attorneys requested that I assist them in issuing subpoenas faster to allow more time to prepare clients and witnesses. Through improved organization and time management was able to expedite the subpoena process from being issued three weeks prior to trial to sixty days prior to trial and successfully completed 30 subpoenas. This improvement resulted in attorneys being able to resolve backlogs and focus their attention on better preparing for future cases.

Worked in a secure access room with a select team that included participation from other law enforcement agencies due to the highly sensitive and confidential nature of this case. All of these binders were organized in chronological order beginning with the homicide to the current date. Organized the files in such a manner that the attorneys could easily find the information they needed to compile a case as quickly and effectively as possible. Acquired many techniques of investigation and the fundamentals of being a detective. Accomplishments: Integral part of a team that was a key component in prosecutors being able to achieve a successful indictment of their main suspect. Established a foundation and identified next steps for the creation of Crime Stoppers in Alexandria.

Acquired knowledge on how police departments interact with the community and how to improve this relationship.Accomplishments: The Medal of Valor recipients were recognized for their service to the community as a result of creating and updating the database. Created additional file space after organizing the file room and provided a more organized space.
