Solicitor in the General Counsel's Office, focussed primarily on commercial litigation and investigations, together with commercial contracts drafting and negotiation. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Head of Legal Risk, and directly advising stakeholders within the business and various Central Services functions (including HR, Compliance, Data Protection, Fraud, Procurement, Information Security, IT, Marketing and Sustainability).

As a Senior Associate in Osborne Clarke's Commercial and Regulatory Disputes team I advised on a range of complex commercial disputes, with a particular focus on international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional litigation.I was focused primarily on disputes in the digital business (particularly interactive entertainment) and energy and utilities (particularly renewable energy) sectors. I also advised many professional services clients and those involved in the financial services sector.I helped clients achieve significant successes in claims involving, inter alia, breach of contract, bribery, fraud and conspiracy, shareholder disputes and insolvency/bankruptcy proceedings. I also gained extensive experience in relation to cross-border disputes (including successfully applying for interim injunctions, serving proceedings and enforcing judgments out of the jurisdiction).My arbitration experience includes both commercial arbitration under the LCIA, ICC and DIS rules, and investment arbitration under the ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. As part of the firm’s ‘Managing International Risk’ offering, I also provided early-stage strategic advice on investment planning and dispute resolution options, as well as more general commercial contract advice, to ensure clients were prepared for the gamut of modern economic, legal and political risks.Before training and qualifying with Osborne Clarke in London, I obtained my law degree in South Africa followed by the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course in London. I was also a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association, the LCIA Young International Arbitration Group and the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum.

After completing my training contract with Osborne Clarke, I qualified into the firm's commercial disputes team in 2013. My experience includes international/multi-jurisdictional civil litigation and arbitration. I have acted on disputes across the main sectors we focus on, including banking and finance, energy and real estate. As part of my training contract with Osborne Clarke, I was seconded to the Legal & Contracts Team at C&WW. I worked with colleagues from many different areas of the business and gained exposure to a wide range of work such as customer contracts, supplier agreements, international telecommunication services agreements as well as corporate and company secretarial projects.

In my first role in a UK law firm I provided all manner of office support such as administrative tasks, records management, welcoming clients etc. I asked questions, sat in on meetings and soaked up as much experience in the legal world as I could.
