Provided executive leadership for Wisconsin's designated Protection and Advocacy agency for people with disabilities. Directed individual and systems advocacy to protect legal rights and improve quality of life including litigation, administrative remedies, legislative and policy change, and community education. Expanded existing advocacy programs and created victim advocacy division. Led successful child welfare policy reform effort, diversity outreach initiative, and fostered positive government relationships. Negotiated contracts and wrote grants increasing revenue by $1 million. Improved employee retention, expanded diversity outreach. Grew fundraising infrastructure and capacity including coordination of special events, annual appeals, foundation, and workplace giving campaigns doubling unrestricted revenues. Resolved agency debt and added reserves. Implemented lobbying, information security, and confidentiality policies, and ensured contract, grant, and regulatory compliance. Upgraded fundraising and communication infrastructure, including webpage, telecommunications, and social media. Elected to Board of Directors of the National Disability Rights Network and appointed to Governor's Committee for People with Disabilities.

Provides overall guidance to Marquette University Law School for University mission integration, community outreach, volunteer service and academic focus on public interest law. Developed and enhanced pro bono and service opportunities for law students, faculty, and alumni, promoted public service career opportunities, and engaged the Law School in efforts on behalf of the common good. Coordinated Marquette Law School’s community outreach and pro bono efforts. Served as liaison to numerous community-based committees and access to justice improvement efforts, including serving as chair of the Stabilization Committee of the Milwaukee Foreclosure Partnership Initiative. Created and maintained more than a dozen new pro bono partnerships including: Marquette Legal Initiative for Nonprofit Corporations, Marquette Foreclosure Mediation Program, Legal and Medical Partnership for Families, Brighter Future's Peer Support Program, Know Your Rights Immigrant Detention Program, and the Milwaukee County Guardianship Assistance Project. Provided the Law School with more than $1,000,000 in extramural funding for public service initiatives through successful grant and development proposals. Strengthened pro bono standard and presided over nearly five-fold increase in student participation. Initiated and coordinated annual Public Service conference. Published monthly e-newsletter, maintained public service websites, and wrote national public interest reports. Developed public interest courses and supervised field placements, including serving as adjunct professor for Law and Social Change. Supervised students and attorneys at various Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic settings.

Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of social services throughout west-central Wisconsin including adoption, mental health counseling, child welfare, credit & housing counseling, domestic abuse prevention, refugee resettlement and legal immigration services. Duties included advocacy, community relations, quality assurance, fund-raising, grant management, marketing, budget preparation, fiscal management, development and implementation of agency policies, and human resources, including the selection, supervision and training of management team. Under leadership grew from $500,000 to $3.0 million organization with 60 employees in 7 offices, adding $1 million in net assets. Achieved first COA accreditation in the history of the agency.Established eight new programs, including emergency services, legal immigration, refugee resettlement, and housing and bankruptcy counseling.

Provided litigation support to the Executive Director in complex consumer class action lawsuits against rent-to-own and payday lending institutions, while pursing Master’s Degree. Co-counsel in mediation resulting in $ 2.9 million cash settlement and establishment of $675,000 cy pres fund which has distributed over 2000 no-interest loans in low-income neighborhoods.

Engaged in a wide range of casework including consumer class action, bankruptcy, public housing, SSI/SSD, education, divorce, child custody and guardianship on behalf of low-income residents in four county area of eastern Wisconsin. Successfully litigated largest class action settlement under Wisconsin Consumer Act of the time.

Engaged in a wide range of legal services practice on behalf of low-income residents in 5 counties of southeastern Kentucky. Litigated family law, black lung, clean water, housing, employment discrimination, consumer & bankruptcy cases. Attended National Consumer Law Center, National Housing Law Center and national trial practice training.
