XPDF beamline scientist based at Diamond, Harwell Campus, UK.My primary role is to support the beamline through operations, user support and data analysis. Approximately a third of my time is utilised to run experiments, both my own and supporting users with their bespoke experiments. A further third is used for beamline upgrades, both hardware and software, with large projects in both areas being an exciting development. I assist in both the physical upgrades, calibrations and testing of the physical components as well as the software, coding and streamlining of the software. Furthermore, with the increasing automation of the beamline and experiments, I take a leading role in the logistics with regards to user operations. The final third is research, both individually as well as collaborative. My primary research interests include total scattering and its applications to crystallisation processes. Other interests range from instrument and sample environment development, powder x-ray diffraction, pair distribution functions to experiment automation and software development. This has led to publications and collaborations within a variety of fields, and include world leading institutions such as CatHub, Research Complex at Harwell, University of Loughborough, University of Southampton and UCL.
