From a young age, having had an inquisitive mind, an affinity for detail orientated work and an interest in healthcare and disease, pursuing biological and biomedical science in college seemed to be a logical decision. Exposure to a range of biological science content resulted in my fascination with the nervous system, with behaviour and neurological disorders.Specialising in neuroscience, I grew my knowledge in neuroimmunology, pharmacology, anatomy, chemistry and physiology. Ultimately this culminated in my decision to undertake a thesis investigating the involvement of CD4+ T-cells on astrocyte reactivity in Parkinson’s disease. This affirmative experience afforded me the opportunity to grow my skill set in cellular and molecular biology, as well as data analysis.While my experience has shaped my perspectives to be largely neuroimmunological, I’m open minded and enthused by the prospect of broadening my frame of reference. In short, I’m eager and love to learn, albeit in relation to science, new music to play on guitar or even the latest method for the perfect pour-over coffee. I’m excited for what the future of neuroscience holds and for part that I can play in it.
