Served as a member of a Chaplain Corp for Janesville Police Department making death notifications as well as responding to crises in the community to provide crisis intervention stress management, defusings, and debriefings for law enforcement personnel.

As Lead Pastor of Emmanuel Church, Dan led the congregation through the process of re-focusing on the mission of the church to minister to the community through various outreach ministries. The approach was to love the individuals of the community until they asked why. The church began to promote an atmosphere where everyone was invited to "come as you are, no judgment, only grace." The church developed a new focus and reputation in the community and many experienced the unconditional love of God.
