I have the honor to be selected as a participant in the NASA DEVELOP Unalakleet climate project.DEVELOP is part of NASA’s Applied Sciences Program, addresses environmental and public policy issues by conducting interdisciplinary feasibility projects that apply the lens of NASA Earth observations to community concerns around the globe. Bridging the gap between NASA Earth Science and society, DEVELOP builds capacity in both participants and partner organizations to better prepare them to address the challenges that face our society and future generations. With the competitive nature and growing societal role of science and technology in today’s global workplace, DEVELOP is fostering an adept corps of tomorrow’s scientists and leaders.The Unalakleet Climate project is creating drainage network and permafrost degradation maps of the Unalakleet river watershed using data from the Sentinel 1 C-SAR, WorldView-2, and WorldView-3. These maps will supply erosion risk assessment to the National Renewable Energy Lab, aiding in the relocation of the Native Alaskan village of Unalakleet.
Gis Tutor

Geographic Information System Intern
While working as an intern with the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA 1971) certified native corporation, Qanirtuuq Incorporated, I performed a variety of duties directly under the supervision of Warren Jones (CEO of Qanirtuuq Incorporated). I conducted erosion mapping of the Qanirtuuq River, both by creating orthomosaics maps of threatened infrastructure with a Mavic Pro drone and by ground-truthing riparian erosion with a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). These duties also included marking an eroding road vital to access of the subsistence sites, digitizing a collection of historic maps and aerial photography (n=490), and conducting GIS guided interviews with Carl Nicolai (Land Manager of Quinhagak AK).

I aided in an archaeological excavation funded by FAA and though the Aniak Traditional Council in the native community of Aniak, Alaska. The field report of the exploratory excavation is forthcoming.
