Represented company at Embassy of Botswana’s Open House during the 2019 Around the World Embassy Tour. Promoted safaris and tourism to ~3,000 attendees over the course of the day. Successfully retained exemption in DSW (Definition of Solid Waste) rule that enabled cost-efficient recycling of material; and added new provision which encouraged additional recycling. Over several-year period, led Environmental Committee, engaged with EPA officials, and submitted oral and written public statements. ♦ Legislative Advocacy. Successfully supported advancement of SOCMA’s legislative priorities including: leading Fly-In discussions related to TSCA Reform, trade and regulatory reform; building relationship with House Small Business Committee; submitting testimony on impact of environmental regulations on small businesses; and highlighting burdensome regulations for House Government Reform and Oversight Committee’s consideration. ♦ Coalition Engagement. Effectively persuaded Board to join industry coalition to counter petition related to RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) that would have increased waste disposal costs. Liaised with coalition leaders by conveying feedback from Environmental Committee, ultimately contributing to significant win in petition process. ♦ Grassroots Development. Energized grassroots efforts through enhancement of SOCMA Connect, a grassroots network which promoted annual Fly-In, action alerts, letter writing campaigns, and Congressional Site Visit Program. Secured record number of congressional speakers and grew attendance by at least 1/3.
