I have spent most of my career (over 25 years!) as a developer, working with clients all over the UK, creating and building applications using a large number of languages and frameworks. In the late 90’s I started to focus on web applications, initially writing dynamic server-side sites in VBScript running on a Classic ASP scripting engine. In the early 2000’s I moved to .NET framework, before completely switching to PHP due to the arrival of CMS platforms such as Magento, Wordpress and Drupal etc. Working as a contractor, I enjoyed assisting small to medium-sized businesses in recognising the potential of a well-designed online application, whether it was creating a full website, adding unique functionality, or building internal intranet systems. In my recent career stages, I’ve transitioned into senior management roles, where I oversee infrastructure and systems administration. This involves managing a company’s IT infrastructure and networks, as well as implementing system integrations to connect websites, platforms, and marketplaces with ERPs and WMS system.
