Analysis using X-ray diffraction, Raman and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to determine the structure of each compound following the processes seen. Alongside this project I worked on projects that involved the formulation of thin films and analysis of co-crystals. This advanced my knowledge and ability of formulating materials.As well as the direct roles in the projects provided I was asked to do three days of training a student on a range of instruments. This involved looking at how the ionic strengths of an electrolyte environment affect the flocculation habits of three poly (NIPAM) microgels with three different initiators. This has involved synthesis of these microgels and subsequent analysis required the use of a Zetasizer and UV visible instruments. This has taught me to be competent on these sorts of machines, as well as in writing risk assessments and report writing
