In 2022, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. It was a lifelong dream to make the 2200 mile trek from Maine to Georgia, and after graduating from Georgia Tech, I flew to Maine with a backpack and some trail runners to start walking. It was not a walk in the park, at least not figuratively. The physical strain was a constant struggle, and the temptation to quit on difficult days was strong. But 5 months (and many good and bad days) later at the Southern Terminus, I had certainty that I enjoyed a challenge and had the perseverance to follow through on my goals.Since returning to civilization, my journey has led me to Epic, where I currently excel as a Full Stack Developer. My obstacles are much different in this setting, but I still love seeing a project through to its completion. I love my role at Epic because it allows me to start a project by gathering feedback and requirements from clinicians, designing a solution to meet their needs, and developing that solution into a functional application that makes administering healthcare easier and better. Seeing the tangible impact of my work, whether that is creating a Surge Scoring system for hospital capacity or automating calculation of staffed beds to save hospitalists' time, motivates me for the next round of challenges.Soon, I'm moving to Raleigh, North Carolina to get married, and am searching for a position where I can continue to use software development to create products that help users. I have a passion for User Centered Design, and hope to continue growing my skills across the tech stack by designing and developing new technologies.
