Temporary Position while transitioning out of the Military:The Director of Surgery contributes to the goals of the hospital by intervening and solving potential patient safety problems, and developing the personnel, physical environment, material and organizational systems. Acts as a liaison and public relations representative between other departments of the hospital and the community. Assists in designing a competitive structure and controls the department's inventory of equipment and supplies. Provides quality care in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the standards of care based on each patients requirements relative to his or her appropriate age group. Ensures personnel are up to date on current training requirements and current standards.

In this role I supervised and trained a team of 14 people to operate and control generators, switchboards, control equipment, and electrical equipment associated with reactor plants; operate and perform organizational and intermediate maintenance on power and lighting circuits, electrical fixtures, motors, generators, voltage and frequency regulators, controllers, distribution switchboards, and other electrical equipment; test for short circuits, grounds or other casualties; and repair and/or rebuild electrical equipment, including solid state circuitry elements. As a Chief Petty Officer I was also responsible in the training of 100 personnel both enlisted and Officer on electrical safety and the basics of electrical circuitry. Communicate to the upper command and outside agencies on the status of the electrical systems. Planned outages and coordinated backup power as necessary. I was the technical expert in all things electrical.

As the safety officer I was the principal adviser to the commanding officer on safety matters and was responsible for the proper performance of the functions of their department. Overseeing the unit-wide elements of the safety program, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required mishap reports and conducting training on safety related issues. I also ensured the protection of privileged safety related information in safety programs and enforced restrictions on handling of mishap investigation reports and related evidence or data. I was responsible as well as consult with the assigned SJA/legal officer before releasing safety-related reports, testimony, evidence, data or deliberative product of Safety Boards, to non-safety actions such as JAGMAN investigations, administrative boards, litigation requests or grievance/complaint procedures, or to non-DOD entities such as the public under FOIA or to Congress.Conduct periodic safety evaluations and surveys of subordinate activity safety programs, such as electrical, motorcycle, traffic and procedures to determine the level of compliance with safety regulations, directives, and instructions; and to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and procedures. Interpret safety regulations and standards, and participate in the development of new or revised safety standards. Maintain injury/illness mishap data, analyzes reports, and initiate action to improve safety program. Increase safety awareness through appropriate promotional methods and channels of communication. Ensure consideration of OSH features in the design, purchase, or procurement of items where NPC exercises acquisition authority. Serve as representative on safety councils, committees, and working groups established by higher authority and the private sector. Plan, develop, participate in, and evaluate employee safety training in coordination with cognizant training groups, offices, and organizations.

As the lead ship superintendent I was in charge of ensuring whether the necessary repair works on a ship are being executed properly, especially during the dry dock of the ship. Ensuring that proper materials, funding, and documentation that specify the necessary repairing and conditioning require for a ship and reassure that the repairing and reconstruction of the ship is being carried out properly in the allocated shipyard or dry dock. As the Assistant Production Officer I was responsible for job acceptance, scheduling, and end of year financial oversight for the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department. As the Engineering Department Training Assistant I was responsible for establishing the training topics and guidelines for the Nuclear Department to include 72 nuclear enlisted and 24 officers. Administering training and qualification exams, performing trend analysis on all questions providing feedback and improving upon training seminars, events, and drill scenarios.

The training coordinator position I was responsible for the scheduling, documentation, and overall student training. I was also in charge of coordinating the drill scenarios, coordinating events and assigning personnel to conduct 1 on 1 training. In this assignment I supervised 14 Sailors in the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance, including quality assurance maintenance procedures. I provided for the maintenance of the entire electrical distribution system, power generating machines including two 2000KW steam driven turbines, two 500KW electric motor generators, and an advanced lead-acid battery. This also entailed work on all hotel style electrical equipment including lighting, outlets, and supporting sub-systems on board the submarine.• Contributed to the personal and professional development of junior Sailors and peers, positively impacting the skills and competence of the crew. • As the Department's Gage Calibration Coordinator, corrected program deficiencies and improved readiness from 65% to 95% within 8 months. • Created and implemented programs to improve qualifications and ship cleanliness.
