Working collaboratively with practice/business managers across Northampton to develop a proposal for GP Federation. Leading task and finish groups to develop a legal structure to enable a membership organisation which could also provide services, ensuring it was robust enough to meet the scrutiny of any regulators or commissioners. In February 2014 General Practice Alliance Limited was incorporated with Companies House, with 24 shareholding member practices.

Lead the organisation in strategic planning. Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities; formulate objectives, research and development ideas for future Practice developments.Maintain a pro-active awareness of current trends and developments within the NHS and the wider healthcare community, to anticipate and plan for future initiatives, work with partners and management team on the formulation of a business plan for all aspects of the Practice. Manage strategic risk for the organisation.Attend Partners meetings to advise on policy matters and challenge pre-conceived ideas, experiences, and individual views to ensure a robust and well-considered policy result.Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships both within the Practice and with relevant outside agencies.Liaise with professional advisors on key business matters, review new service opportunities and actively tender to secure new sustainable income streams for the practice. Prepare and annually update the Practice Development Plan, oversee the implementation of the aims and objectives. Manage the procurement of Practice equipment, supplies and services within target budgets. Arrange appropriate insurance and indemnity cover and ensure that the Practice has adequate disaster recovery procedures in placeDevelop and maintain new and existing services. Actively identify new opportunities, assess viability and prepare business plans for assessment. Approve LES, DES, QOF and other contractual services; Develop, maintain and market new and existing services.
