As an experienced Band 6 radiographer at Stepping Hill it was my responsibility to act as the designated lead radiographer role in general x-ray, both in and out of hours. As the lead radiographer I was often relied upon to give advice, offer support, share my knowledge and on occasion, be a confidant to peers and colleagues. This also extends to undergraduate students, Radiology Assistants and more junior Radiographers. The role entails a great deal of organisation, patience, good knowledge of the department and is very much a reactive and dynamic process. The primary aim is to ensure the smooth operation and efficient workflow through the department. I enjoyed the autonomy and responsibility that this role providedAs a CT radiographer I am able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team during core hours and also, out of hours autonomously. I pride myself on consistently producing accurate diagnostic images whilst offering a high-quality service to patients in a safe environment by following local protocols and national guidelines. I frequently managed workloads by triaging patients based on patients’ clinical needs. I am adaptable, calm and reliable.In my current role at the Christie. I work as a diagnostic radiographer in the Pre-Treatment team in the Proton Beam Therapy Department. This role has allowed me to develop a better understanding of cancer pathways and has provided me with unique experience of working as a multi-disciplinary team within those pathways. Something few diagnostic radiographers are able to experience.
